Everyone is on social media these days – Facebook and Twitter have become a part of our daily existence. It’s often hard to remember a time when we didn’t learn about world events or the passing of celebrities through people on one of our "friends" lists, so it makes sense that if our favorite comic book characters were real, they’d be partaking in all the online shenanigans as well.
This idea is at the heart of Ed Shems’ animated series How Superheroes Use Social Media – a group of illustrations that find Hulk writing Amazon reviews of purple stretch pants and Batman taking selfies while cleaning up the streets of Gotham City.
Shems’ illustrations capture the lighter side of some of our favorite characters while highlighting how this technology would almost assuredly make keeping a secret identity hidden from the public pretty challenging (Superman and Batman find this out firsthand in the series of cartoons), but it’s kind of fun to think about how these characters would handle the whole social media thing. Who’d be the most entertaining? I’m guessing Deadpool.
Check out a few of our favorites below and then swing by Shems’ site for the full series.
