Kevin Smith has written superhero comics, owns a comic book store, and almost directed a Superman movie, but for some strange reason the stars have never quite aligned so that we’d get a full-fledged Smith-based superhero film – until now.
Smith’s Smodcast Pictures has acquired the rights to Jordan Galland’s superhero comedy Alter Egos and we’ve got the new official theatrical trailer for the film. Breathe it in, true believers – this could be the closest we’ll ever get to a Kevin Smith comic book movie.
Featuring Kris Lemche, Brooke Nevin, Joey Kern, Christine Evangelista and John Ventimiglia, Alter Egos goes the route of many indie superhero movies – featuring not the big-budget special effects and action-packed extravaganzas of films like The Avengers, but instead opting for a more human and relatable group of heroes on the skids. When government funding and public support for superheroes dwindles, Lemche and his team find themselves down and out. From the looks of the clip, lots of hilarity ensues.
We’ll have to wait until Friday to see how Alter Egos ranks in the pantheon of superhero flicks. The film opens in limited theatrical release then and will hit VOD services on November 20. Get in the spirit by checking out the trailer below.
