Air New Zealand teamed up with WETA for a Hobbit-inspired safety video, and it's full of fun cameos — including appearances from director Peter Jackson (1:38), the great-grandson of author J.R.R. Tolkien, Royd Tolkien (0:30), and our own Hobbit countdown author Larry Curtis of TheOneRing.net fame (3:30). Dwarves, hobbits, elves and other creatures abound — including an appearance from Gollum. The video successfully makes air travel seem like a magical experience and not the hellish nightmare it can be. Please keep your seats in the upright position, and do not use the One Ring as a floatation device.
There's a contest being held in conjunction with the promotion that allows people to unlock Elvish codes to win passes to the world premiere screening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which opens on December 14.
