The Wachowskis' Matrix series has yielded some pretty interesting characters since it first appeared in theaters. Who can forget the albino twins from Matrix Reloaded that could walk through walls? Creepy buggers. Another Matrix icon recently appeared in a GE commercial, oddly, to remind us that he can exist in multiple places at once, and we can't. In the ad, Agent Smith — the Man in Black of the simulated reality realm known as the Matrix — is intrigued by GE's medical software that connects data throughout hospitals. Sorry GE, you're about a decade too late on this one, but it's always nice to see a familiar face. Also, hospitals suddenly seem more terrifying than they already did.
In 2011, rumors circulated about a potential continuation of the franchise, claiming the Wachowskis had two scripts ready to go. The directors were supposedly meeting with James Cameron to chat about 3D technology — and hopefully how to make the rest of these sequels not suck so bad. Last month we heard that the filmmakers were being sued for $300 million by a writer who claims the Wachowskis stole his ideas for the Matrix sequels. It sounded weak at best. That was the last we heard anything about the Matrix, so this may be the last time you see Agent Smith for awhile — though we imagine if you look around, he'll probably be stalking you somewhere in the crowd.
