Afternoon Filler: 'Apocalypse Later, Surf Now,' Live-Action 'Rugrats,' 'We Were Wanderers'
Jan 17, 2012
Homebrew visual effects are all the rage these days, and while the work in Apocalypse Later, Surf Now may not be quite as impressive as the work in, say, Keloid, the tone and the setting make it worth a quick watch. Who knows, maybe this will land the director a gig like Panic Attack did for Fede Alvarez, who will soon be directing The Evil Dead.
This trailer for a live-action Rugrats movie isn't the most inspired fake trailer Funny or Die has ever put out, but it's got a funny cast in Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman and Michael Angarano, and is an amusing/creepy reminder of an old kid's show you probably haven't thought about in years.
If you've liked any of Carl Sagan video tributes that became quite popular over the past year or so, you'll probably like James W. Griffiths' We Were Wanderers On A Prehistoric Earth, a tribute to the indigenous life on Malaysia. The narration you're hearing is an excerpt from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness read by Terry Burns.
