Our good friends over at Action Movie Freak have created a handy dandy YouTube playlist of all the trailers of our announced films so far. You can check that out here.

Also, here are a few programming details you may have missed. First and foremost, we can confirm that you’ll have a chance to see festival favorite The Raid: Redemption! The film will already be in its theatrical run and playing at The Carolina Asheville (home of ActionFest 2012). But there will be a special screening during the Fest for badgeholders! As I’ve also mentioned, there will be a screening of Gina Carano’s favorite film, as well as a special selection from amongst Mickey Gilbert’s favorites.

Competitions Are Go!

We have announced two filmmaking competitions that may be able to win you some fortune and glory. This is good news for all of you North American filmmakers regardless of whether you can attend ActionFest or not.

Want to win a chance to shadow Chuck and Aaron Norris on the set of their next action film?! Then check out ActionFest’s first ever student filmmakers competition. You can read all about the details for submission, deadlines, etc, right here. But you need to be a student, and submit an action short ASAP! So get a move on, students of action!

We are also bringing back the 30 Seconds of Action Film Challenge! You have until April 6th to create an action short that is 30 seconds or less. The top 3 finalists’ shorts will play as bumpers at ActionFest 2012. And the winner will be determined by our jury panel. Check out all the details for submission here and get your badass caps on to bring your best action short to the world of ActionFest!

The ActionFest Awards

In our last countdown column we broke the news that Gina Carano (Haywire) will be receiving the Chick Norris (Best Female Action Star) Award at ActionFest 2012. Gina will be on hand at ActionFest to receive the award and she’ll even be bringing a special secret screening of her favorite movie (trust us, Gina has good taste!) Any guesses?

But we have also recently announced the exciting news that JJ Perry will be receiving the Fight Choreographer of the Year Award. You are probably very familiar with JJ’s work, even if you didn’t know it. This year alone JJ coordinated fights on Haywire and Underworld: Awakening. Next year? He is doing the fight coordination for none other than Django Unchained! This guy is a scholar and a gentleman (who can totally beat you up).

And don’t forget that this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Mickey Gilbert, whose career spans from Ben-Hur to The Last of the Mohicans and more. Handsome enough to double Robert Redford, Gilbert is a true legend amongst stunt professionals and we can’t wait to have him at ActionFest 2012.
