Men in Black 3

The Good Book: Biblical epics are back in vogue at the moment, which may explain why Will Smith may be jumping into a tale of sibling rivalry. He is taking a close look at directing a project formerly known as The Redemption of Cain, which examines the Biblical Cain’s stormy relationship with his brother Abel. Smith would direct and star; our money is on him taking the role of the angry Cain. [Deadline]

Future of a Stripper: Having already hinted that he was working on a sequel to 21 Jump Street, the very busy Channing Tatum now says he is also working on a “concept” for a sequel to Magic Mike, on which he served as a producer. We don’t want to spoil the ending of the original, but let’s just say that we wonder if a sequel would involve more or less stripping by well-oiled muscle men. Marital Thriller: When a woman goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary, her husband is the #1 suspect. That’s the premise of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, newly-published and already a New York Times bestseller. Now it will be made into a movie, to be produced by Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea, and Leslie Dixon, with Flynn taking first crack at the script. Flynn’s first two novels, Sharp Objects and Dark Places, are also under development for the big screen. [Deadline]

Actions Speak Louder: The next installment in a spy series draws closer -- and heads to TV. The Bourne Legacy, due out August 10, stars Jeremy Renner, and a new 60-second TV spot effectively sells him as an action hero, as well as Edward Norton as the most prominent government "suit” trying to catch him.
