Jim Sturgess pursues Kirsten Dunst in a dizzying alternate reality where two worlds exist one above the other like mirror opposites. Adam (Sturgess) comes from "down below," which seems to be the equivalent of the wrong side of the tracks. Eve (Dunst) hails from an affluent (inverted) world, where she met Adam as a young girl. The star-crossed lovers enter into a dangerous, forbidden courtship in Juan Diego Solanas' sci-fi romance tale, Upside Down.
The trailer has arrived and will undoubtedly draw many comparisons — particularly to Christopher Nolan's Inception. Although Upside Down seems pretty derivative and painfully obvious (those character names are awful), there may be a good popcorn flick in here somewhere if it doesn't become too silly.
While the film doesn't have a U.S. distributor lined up yet, the effects-heavy action, lovelorn plot, and recognizable talent will hopefully draw a company to the Argentinean director's first big-budget feature. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think.
