The Possession of Hannah Grace

"When you die, you die" is a phrase that is repeated several times in the trailer for The Possession of Hannah Grace, which is a thought that can reassure anyone worried that the dead might return to life in a very bad mood. Of course, countless horror movies have sought to disprove that phrase by reanimating corpses to very frightening effect.

The Possession of Hannah Grace introduces the protagonist in a sympathetic manner before quickly moving on to its scary setup, making sure to pay homage to other memorable fright flicks along the way. Read more about the film below and then watch the trailer.

What's the story?

"A shocking exorcism spirals out of control, claiming the life of a young woman," says the official synopsis. "Months later, Megan Reed (Shay Mitchell) is working the graveyard shift in the morgue when she takes delivery of a disfigured cadaver. Locked alone inside the basement corridors, Megan begins to experience horrifying visions and starts to suspect that the body may be possessed by a ruthless demonic force."

Who stars?

As noted above, Shay Mitchell stars as Megan. The job requires Megan to work at night, alone for long hours. That is, potentially, a good thing for the former police officer, who is freshly out of rehab and could use a little time to pull herself completely together.

The actress first gained wide notice on TV's Pretty Little Liars, in which she starred for seven seasons. The popular mystery series concluded its run last year. The cast includes Grey Damon (TV's Station 19), Kirby Johnson as the titular character, and Stana Katic (TV's Castle) as a nurse.

Who wrote and directed?

Brian Sieve wrote the original screenplay. His past credits include Boogeyman 2 and Boogeyman 3. More recently, he served as a staff writer on popular small-screen series Teen Wolf.

Diedrik Van Rooijen directed. He is a veteran commercial and television helmer, and has made a number of short films, both in the U.S. and abroad.

When can we see it?

Screen Gems will release The Possession of Hannah Grace in theaters on Friday, November 30. Tickets are now available.
