Any movie with a principal cast that consists of Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymore Hoffman, Amy Adams, and Laura Dern is one that'll be worth paying attention to. A movie with that cast written and directed by the man who made Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and There Will Be Blood? It's unmissable. Hell, if you're a gambling junkie, you might as well call up your favorite bookie and lay down some Osar-betting coin on The Master right now; this thing has gold statues written all over it.
And for those who need to supplement their teases with a little bit of actual plot, here's the IMDb synopsis for The Master - which is not something you could distil based on the trailer alone (hint, it's targeting scientology):
A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as "the Master" whose faith-based organization begins to catch on in America, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.
Without further delay (because we feel like we've already been waiting forever to see this thing), here's the teaser trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson's first film in five years:
How great does that look? All the great. The answer is it looks all of the great.
