The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

The first trailer for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part begins on a somber note, as Lucy (voiced by Elizabeth Banks) talks about a "new life that has hardened and toughened us all." Except for Emmet Brickowski (voiced by Chris Pratt), of course, who still thinks everything is awesome!

Five years have passed since the events in the smash-hit The Lego Movie, so what exactly has changed? Watch the first trailer below and then check out our summary of everything we know about the animated sequel.

Who else is in the voice cast?

In addition to Pratt and Banks, Will Arnett (Batman), Nick Offerman (Metal Beard) and Alison Brie (Unikitty) are reprising their voice roles. Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) will voice a new, key character, known as Queen Watevra-Nabi, while Stephanie Beatriz and Arturo Castro will voice new characters Sweet Mayhem and Ice Cream Cone, respectively.

What's it about?

The citizens of Bricksburg "are facing a huge new threat," according to the official synopsis. Specifically, that means "Lego Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the Lego universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are."

Who is producing?

Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Roy Lee. Lord and Miller directed The Lego Movie and have also produced other Lego films with Lin and Lee since then.

Who is directing?

Mike Mitchell, as we learned in February 2015. He's directed live-action films (Sky High) as well as animated adventures (Shrek Forever After, Trolls).

When can we see it?

Warner Bros. has scheduled The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part for theatrical release on February 8, 2019.
