'The Dark Knight Rises' Prologue: Find Out Where It's Playing By You

'The Dark Knight Rises' Prologue: Find Out Where It's Playing By You

Dec 02, 2011

On December 16th, Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol will open five days earlier than it's scheduled release in IMAX theaters only. With it (in select IMAX theaters) will be a 7-to-8-minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises, which, as director Christopher Nolan has previously noted, will come from the beginning of the film and set up the Bane character. Naturally, you're probably going to want to see this new Batman footage, but not everyone will have that chance since it's only screening in 42 IMAX screens across the country (because those are the ones that project at 70mm).

From Christopher Nolan: "These are the the theaters that can handle 70mm projection. And while it may be a bummer that it's not coming to your town, the director believes fans will want to make the trek. "Our experience on 'The Dark Knight' shooting and projecting IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film was inspiring. The immersive quality of the image goes beyond any other filmmaking tool available, and in revisiting Gotham, we were determined to shoot even more of the movie in this unique format. Giving the fans an early look at an IMAX sequence is a great way to draw attention to what I believe will be an incredible way to experience our story when it comes out next summer."
