'The Ambassador' Poster Premiere: One of the Craziest Documentaries You'll See This Year

Aug 23, 2012

We're suckers for inventive documentaries that take risks and challenge the audience, which is why we're more than happy to exclusively premiere the poster for one of this year's must-see docs, The Ambassador. It's no surprise that Drafthouse Films picked this up because it fits perfectly into their nutty little wheelhouse in that it follows gonzo filmmaker Mads Brügger into the dangerous Central African Republic on a mission to expose corruption and profiteering. Sounds like your standard doc, except here's the twist: Brügger goes in posing as a wealthy European-African consul, injecting his false persona right into the middle of the brutal (and often deadly) world of blood-diamond smuggling, amidst some of the baddest mofos you'll ever not want to run into.

The Ambassador is available on VOD now and begins its theatrical run in New York on August 29, expanding to select theaters on August 31. Check out a list of theaters where it's playing here. Trust us when we say you'll want to watch this as soon as possible -- it's a pretty wild (and unconventional) ride. Scope out the poster below, and click to enlarge.
