'Star Wars' Chatter: Spielberg Not Directing a Sequel; Watch Wes Anderson and Todd Phillips' Pitch Reel

Nov 09, 2012

It's a new day, and there are new Star Wars rumors to throw on the table and devour.

Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino and Zack Snyder Not Interested in Directing a Star Wars Sequel

Until directors are officially announced for the new Star Wars trilogy, expect every big (and small) name director to be asked by a member of the press whether they'd be interested in directing a sequel. Both Quentin Tarantino and Zack Snyder have already said they don't want to do it, with the former noting he "could so care less" about directing "the Simon West version of Star Wars."

Meanwhile one of the most likely candidates for a sequel, Steven Spielberg, told Access Hollywood that he's not interested either, saying, "No! No! It's not my genre. It's my best friend George's genre." This, of course, is coming from a guy who's about to direct a movie called Robopocalypse. Regardless of what he says, we still think Spielberg may direct one of the sequels, just not the first one.

You knew it was only a matter of time before someone began throwing together parody pitch reels for the new Star Wars movie, and the folks at Conan O'Brien got the jump on it by producing spoof videos detailing what Star Wars would look like if it was directed by both Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom) and Todd Phillips (The Hangover). We say... eh.
