'Star Wars' Bits: Mark Hamill Approves of Amy Schumer Spread, New Lego Sets and More

Jul 20, 2015

As we near closer and closer to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we're going to be seeing more and more news and fan-centric celebration. Here is the latest update on all you need to know regarding that galaxy far, far away:

Luke Skywalker Approves of Amy Schumer

Trainwreck star Amy Schumer appears in Star Wars-inspired photo spread for GQ magazine this month, and some of the photos are a lot more sexual than you'd expect to see C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca and a lightsaber involved in. It should be obvious to everyone that Disney and Lucasfilm had nothing to do with the parodic images, but the latter had to make an official statement (and tweet) to assure fans they didn't "authorize/approve, participate or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner."

Star Wars star Mark Hamill, who returns to the franchise this year in The Force Awakens, at least showed respect for the humorous, borderline NSFW spread. Luke Skywalker himself took to Twitter to make his own approving joke:

Don't be surprised if Skywalker is suddenly killed off at the end of The Force Awakens now as punishment to Hamill for his turn to the dark side of taste.

John Boyega Shares Force Awakens Poster Art

Speaking of Star Wars actors' social media presence, new addition to the franchise John Boyega recently shared the following image of himself with Chewbacca on his Instagram:

The artwork is actually part of a banner that /Film previously revealed as being part of a Russian Lego catalog. It could also be part of other marketing materials we get here in the U.S., but that's left to be seen. The banner is clearly cropped from something larger (note the TIE Fighters). Here is the full version of the promo image:

Star Wars Lego Sets Reveal New Characters and Vehicles

Speaking of Lego, toys and other merchandise can be a great source for spoilers and general details on a secretive movie like The Force Awakens. Last week, pictures of two Star Wars Lego sets showed us that already-popular new droid BB-8 takes the R2 spot in Poe Dameron's (Oscar Isaacs) orange and black X-Wing Fighter and that there's a character we haven't already heard about named Tasu Leech, a minifig version of whom comes with the Millennium Falcon toy.

Additonally, /Film shared a list of more Lego set descriptions, which offer more details on new vehicles plus a minifig for a character called an "Unkar Henchman." See these itemized below followed by a leaked photo (via StarWars7News.com) of what appears to be that new character figure pictured between minifigs of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and a helmeted gunner.
