'Snakes on a Plane' in Real Life: Pilot Forced to Make Emergency Landing After Snake Invades Cockpit

Apr 05, 2012

Something like this was inevitable, really, because nothing surprises us these days when it comes to the shenanigans that take place onboard an airplane. Just like (okay, kinda like) in the 2006 movie Snakes on a Plane, the lone pilot of an aircraft in Australia found himself in a bit of a predicament recently when he discovered a snake in his cockpit shortly after taking off. Luckily he was the only one on the plane at the time, and he was eventually able to land the plane safely without causing harm to himself or the snake.

According to the news report, things were at there hairiest when the snake slithered across the pilot's legs as he was landing the plane (cue: you getting a chill up your spine), though the guy managed to keep calm and still, and the snake did not react. Unfortunately, his call to air traffic control did not include the phrase "Someone get this motherf**king snake off this motherf**king plane," but at least the dude turned out okay in the end.
