The first video blog from Skyfall director Sam Mendes has arrived. The twenty-third Bond movie starring Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, a villainous Javier Bardem, Albert Finney, Berenice Malohe, and Naomie Harris will be hitting theaters on November 9. In the meantime, Mendes fed fans a little tidbit to get everyone excited for the movie — showing a bit of behind-the-scenes action, discussing his admiration for the Bond series in general, and chatting about Craig's abilities as a believable hero. We wish it were longer, but we'll take what we can get — for now, anyway.
We've also just learned that
Skyfall will be released in IMAX theaters (domestically and abroad), getting the digitally remastered treatment. Mendes and cinematographer Roger Deakins
did not shoot the film with IMAX cameras, unlike
Ghost Protocol and
The Dark Knight Rises — two other heavy-hitters recently getting the IMAX makeover. It's still an opportunity for fans to see the action upscaled on the big screen. With
Skyfall marking the 50th anniversary of the Bond franchise, we can probably expect more goodies coming our way soon.
"In
Skyfall, Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost." Is the new Bond at the top of your must-see for fall? [via
