'Sin City' Sequel Casting: Robert Rodriguez Finally Finds 'A Dame to Kill For'

'Sin City' Sequel Casting: Robert Rodriguez Finally Finds 'A Dame to Kill For'

Jan 29, 2013

After months of speculation, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has finally found its leading lady – and it’s not Angelina Jolie.

Instead, Rodriguez has selected Bond girl Eva Green to play the leading lady in the follow-up to his hit 2005 film. Green will tackle the role of Ava Lord in the sequel – and will join Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Ray Liotta and others in the film – which is on schedule for a release this October.

Rodriguez announced his choice by saying Green had landed the part of the character, who is “every man's most glorious dreams come true,” but added, “She's also every man's darkest nightmares.”

Miller and Rodriguez are excited about the casting, stating:

“We've been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.”

Production is already underway on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which means Green will be getting in front of the cameras sooner rather than later.

In other Sin City casting news, it appears as though Jessica Alba won’t be dancing alone in the sequel. A news story at Bleeding Cool has revealed that Julia Garner (Perks of Being a Wallflower) has also been cast. We don’t know much about her character, other than she’s playing a “young stripper” in a story featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a gambler who runs afoul of one of Sin City’s biggest bosses.

With these two new cast members added to the mix, it would appear that all of the major casting for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set. What do you think of the latest additions? Can Green make a suitable replacement for Angelina Jolie? Let us know what you think in the comment section.
