'Ruby Sparks' Shows You How to Create an Inventive Movie Website

Jun 29, 2012

Working as a struggling novelist isn't as romantic or glamorous as it sounds — unless maybe you're Paul Dano's Calvin in Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' Ruby Sparks. The actor plays a young writer who is grappling with his latest work — and his love life — but the literary world's wunderkind finds new inspiration when the woman of his dreams (his newest character) seems to magically appear… in his apartment. Calvin becomes smitten with Ruby (Zoe Kazan, who also co-wrote the movie) on the page, but standing before him, he's madly in love and totally flabbergasted. Elliott Gould, Chris Messina, Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, and Deborah Ann Woll also star in the mind-bending romantic comedy that hits theaters on July 25.

The official Ruby Sparks website has launched, and it definitely got us in the mood to see more of the quirky love story. You get to play writer — complete with clanging typewriter noises — and dream up a few fun impressions and goodies from the film. Here is a list of keywords to try out: Ruby, Love, LA, Dance, Ocean, Write, Poster, Trailer, Fetch, Glow, Pool, and Therapy. We discovered that our favorites weren't on the list: Hamburger, Water, and of course, Movies.com. Let us know if you uncover any other secrets about Ruby Sparks in the comments below.
