After bootlegged trailers and fuzzy set photos, it's nice to get something "official" on Ridley Scott's Prometheus ... even if it is just a shadowy one-sheet that, let's be honest, blatantly evokes the earlier films. (Is Fox still not calling this film a prequel?) We have a dark figure with a flashlight standing beneath an ominous-looking hole of some sort ... I bet there's a face-hugger in there. So here's the poster (courtesy of Shock Till You Drop; go there for a larger version), side-by-side with the original Alien poster to display their similarities:
If I sound a little dismissive of this film, I do apologize. It's just that the original Alien is my very favorite film -- and I really don't love the idea of learning where the darn "space jockey" came from. It was a great visual touch in the first film, and I'm very cynical about any film that focuses on the pre-history of this material. Then again, Ridley Scott *did* direct the Alien flick I love so very much, so perhaps my cautious nature will be rewarded by a stellar surprise. We'll find out on June 8th.
What do you think of the poster?
