'Men in Black 3' Trailer: Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin, as Tommy Lee Jones (Oh, and Aliens!)

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back as Agents J and K in this brand new trailer for Men in Black III. We’ve got your first look at one of this summer’s most highly anticipated titles below.

The third installment in the popular series finds Smith and Tommy Lee Jones reprising their roles as “Men in Black” – agents from a shadowy organization that monitors the extra-terrestrials living amongst us.

It’s been almost a decade since the last MIB film, which is an eternity in Hollywood, so this new clip spends a lot of time reminding everyone who these characters are and what they do – which makes it a little disappointing to anyone who goes in looking to learn what the story might actually be about. Sure, they throw in some time travel and two big reveals toward the end (the shot of Josh Brolin as a young Tommy Lee Jones is the highlight of the trailer – he nails it), but what’s the story here, guys?

Under normal circumstances, we’d be willing to cut a first trailer some slack for not revealing a lot of plot details – but given that MIB3 had numerous delays while shooting, complete with rumors of script problems, we’d like to see some more details to allay our fears that this film didn’t come together quite as cleanly as everyone hoped. This isn’t to say that the new preview for the film is awful – it’s just that it doesn’t really tell us much. It’s great to see Smith and Jones and that crazy memory-erasing gadget, and the potential for friction between Smith’s Agent J and his higher ups could make for a good movie, but it’s too hard to even guess how the final cut of MIB3 might play from this footage.

That being said, we’ll be in the ticket line with the rest of you when the film time warps into theaters on May 25th. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think – will this be a return to the form like the original film or more like the disappointing sequel?
