This is a big week for Rian Johnson’s new film Looper – the official trailer debuts on Thursday (April 12th), but in this day and age, a trailer premiere isn’t enough anymore. So, with that in mind, we’ve got the first of three planned teaser vignettes leading up to the trailer premiere later this week.
The new clip features Johnson and star Joseph Gordon-Levitt talking about the movie – which finds JGL tasked with traveling to the past to whack mob guys. Things get hairy when the mob decided to terminate him (literally) by sending back JGL's older self (Bruce Willis) to essentially kill himself. It also highlights some of the film’s action sequences and other goodies. Hopefully the other two upcoming pre-trailer promos (we’re going to have to come up with a good term to describe these things if this is the new industry standard – they’re not really previews, or teasers…) are as cool as this one.
Check out the clip below and be sure to let us know what you think. Who would you want to play the future, older version of you? I’m leaning toward Robert Mitchum or Takeshi Kitano, personally. I’d be okay with Gary Oldman, too.
Looper is set to jump into theaters on September 28th, 2012.
