'Cabin in the Woods' Trailer: The Long-Delayed Joss Whedon/Drew Goddard Movie Finally Comes to Life

Dec 05, 2011

Now that Lionsgate is in full control of The Cabin in the Woods, it looks like we're finally going to get to see it. After filming all the way back in 2009, The Cabin in the Woods -- written by Joss Whedon and Cloverfield's Drew Goddard, and directed by Goddard -- went on hiatus due to MGM's financial issues. It was slated for release at one point, then pulled for a 3D conversion, then dumped into no man's land until Lionsgate swooped in and got it back on track.

Now the film, which follows a bunch of kids who travel to an empty cabin in the woods for a quiet weekend only to be hunted by someone or something, just debuted a trailer that looks like a horrific good time at the movies. We expect them to play around with the familiar trapped-in-a-cabin genre, and already get glimpses of that in the trailer. It sort of has this Saw-like vibe to it, with some other force controlling the hell these kids are put through. Plus we get Chris Hemsworth, pre-Thor, which may mean something to someone.

Anyway, check this sucker out below and let us know what you think. Will The Cabin in the Woods be worth the wait when it finally hits theaters on April 13?
