Production on Charlie Kaufman's crowd-funded Anomalisa — an animated short about a depressed motivational speaker — started last November. While we wait to see more of the project, let's turn our attention to an announcement from FX (via Vulture) that the director is developing a half-hour comedy for the network called How and Why. The sitcom will be focused on an idiot savant-type character that knows everything about nuclear reactors and nothing about life. So far, we know that Kaufman will write, direct and executive produce the pilot, but no other details exist at this time.
This isn't Kaufman's first time at the TV rodeo. The neurotic scribe started his television comedy career with shows like Get a Life, The Dana Carvey Show, The Edge and the Thomas Haden Church and Debra Messing-starring Ned and Stacey.
