David O. Russell once had a reputation for having nasty flares of anger on set. Either he's gotten much better about it or he's become such a talented director that people are willing to put up with it, because he keeps pulling in some of the most popular and most talented actors of our generation to star in his films. American Hustle is his latest and it looks like the greatest-hits mash-up of The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook casts, featuring the likes of Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro.
Combine that incredibly talented bunch with the '70s setting and a political crime-sting story inspired by real events, and American Hustle looks like it'll once again nab Russell and friends a whole lot of awards attention in a few months time.
The first trailer for the film premiered on an ABC talk show this morning [via Bleeding Cool],
so it's not the most ideal release format (now a cleaner, HD copy is out) but thankfully the network lets the trailer play out without talking over it (as some other shows do) and even features a nice little chat with Russell afterward. Check it out and give us your thoughts below.
Are we taking crazy pills or does American Hustle have Oscars written all over it?
