When 21 Jump Street, a big-screen comedy adaptation of a decades'-old TV show about undercover cops posing as students, was announced it seemed like only two things were possible. It would either be a complete disaster or it would maybe be kind of okay. That's why everyone was pleasantly surprised when it hit and ended up being one of the best studio comedies of recent years, and was responsible for shifting Channing Tatum from generic leading man to an action star with some solid comedic chops.
The first film ended with a tease that Jenko (Channing Tatum) and Schmidt (Jonah Hill) were going to college, and now 22 Jump Street is making good on that. The trailer for the film just hit, and while it looks like it repeats the exact same formula as the first film (haha, they don't fit in, isn't that funny?), we're not complaining here. After Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street and TV's Brooklyn Nine-Nine (which you should totally be watching), we trust directors Chris Lord and Phil Miller implicitly.
Check out the trailer below. It is R rated, so be prepared for some NSFW language before pressing play if you're at work. 22 Jump Street hits theaters on June 13, 2014.
