We're arriving at an interesting moment in movie marketing, and those who enjoy watching a bunch of trailers for this year's biggest movies air during the Super Bowl may find they're getting less and less of them each year. That's because the amount of money for a 30-second spot keeps rising (up to $4 million this year), and studios are finding they get more bang for their buck by releasing a trailer online, where it could be shared hundreds of thousands of times.
That being said, there will always be some movie trailers that opt for a Super Bowl spot, and this year we still have a smattering of big properties set to debut a small taste of what's to come. The most notable being Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction, which will mark the release of the first footage from the sequel.
Other confirmed movie trailers making an appearance include (in order of release):
Need for Speed (March 14)
Muppets Most Wanted (tie-in with Toyota) (March 21)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4)
Draft Day (April 11)
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (May 2)
Movies missing that fans thought they would see make an appearance include Guardians of the Galaxy, Godzilla, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: Days of Future Past, though one or more may choose to do something online instead, specifically the latter. We'll have all the new movie trailers that arrive during the Super Bowl all in one spot following the game, so if you miss anything you know where to find it.
