The Invention of Dr. NakaMats Details

  • Runtime: 57 min.
  • Genres: Biography, Culture & Society, Inventions & Innovations

Director Kaspar Astrup Schroder offers this portrait of prolific Japanese inventor Yoshiro Nakamatsu), who holds over 3,000 patents at the age of 81, and plans to double that number by living to the age of 144. In addition to becoming a cult figure as the inventor of such items as the floppy disc and the digital watch, Nakamatsu also earned an Ig Nobel Prize for Nutrition for his ongoing efforts to document and analyze every meal he consumed over the course of 34 years. Curiously, Nakamatsu claims that his best ideas come when he's at the bottom of his pool, and he's even developed an underwater pen that will help him record those ideas before they drift away. In this film, Nakamatsu not only discusses his many patents, but also speaks at length about his plan to live well into his 100s thanks to a careful balance of diet and exercise. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
