Girl in Number 29 Details

FULL SYNOPSIS

After one successful play, Laurie Devon ([[Performer~P46745~Frank Mayo~frankmayo]]) takes it easy -- too easy according to his partner, Rodney Bangs ([[Performer~P32379~Harry Hilliard~harryhilliard]]), who wants to get back to work. One day, Devon looks at the apartment across the street, and in a window, he spies a girl, Doris Williams ([[Performer~P1502~Claire Anderson~claireanderson]]), who is about to shoot herself. He rushes over just in time to save her, and she tells him she is being followed by Ransome Shaw ([[Performer~P60355~Ray Ripley~rayripley]]). Devon tells the man to stay away but is told to mind his own business. Of course he doesn't, and he gets enmeshed in all sorts of intrigue. In the end, it turns out that the whole thing was a set up by Bangs and a few others who wanted to see Devon get back to writing. Doris -- and her pursuers -- are all actors, so she winds up as leading lady in Devon's next play -- and becomes his wife. This film, directed by [[Performer~P208413~John Ford~johnford]] back in the days when he was known as Jack Ford, was based on a novel, The Girl in the Mirror, by Elizabeth Jordan. ~ Janiss Garza, Rovi
