Fire Eater Details

Attempting to prepare Paradise Valley for its incorporation into a national park, forest rangers Bob Corey (Hoot Gibson) and Jim O'Neil (Walter Perry) receive a cool welcome from the locals. Bob falls for lovely Martha McCarthy (Louise Lorraine), but is dismissed from her house by Dad McCarthy (George Berrell), just because he is a forest ranger. The situation changes drastically, however, when Bob rescues the girl from both a lecherous logger (Tom Lingham) and a raging forest fire. Usually playing sloppy-looking cowhands, Hoot Gibson was a bit more presentable playing a forest ranger in this Northwest comedy-drama. Leading lady Louise Lorraine was the wife of another Western star, Art Acord, whose fistfights with Gibson reached near-legendary proportions. Harvey Gate's screenplay was based on a short story, The Badge of Fighting Hearts by Ralph Cummins. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
