An innocent alien accepts the invitation on the Voyager 2 spacecraft for aliens to visit Earth, only to get shot out of the sky once he actually arrives. Assuming the identity of Jeff Bridges, the recently deceased husband of Karen Allen, he convinces her to take him to Arizona, where he can rendezvous with a rescue party. Over the course of their journey, the man from the stars and the widow wind up falling in love in what has to rank as the sweetest and most romantic movie ever directed by genre master John Carpenter. Bridges' engaging performance is one of a very few in a sci-fi movie to ever garner an Oscar nomination.
