Five '60s Sci-Fi TV Shows That Should Be Movies

Gigantor

The hyper-stylized Speed Racer divided viewers in 2008, but it’s time to revisit '60s Japanese anime, and Gigantor would be a splendid choice. An English-language adaptation of the series ran on American TV in the mid-'60s, featuring 12-year-old Jimmy Sparks, who controls a flying robot, who acts in behalf of peace. Jimmy and Gigantor fight crime wherever it occurs. Giant robots who smash things are, obviously, never out of style, and Gigantor could grab the Transformers audience with a live-action version and a thoughtful young boy at the controls. The plot possibilities are endless!

Did we miss any of your favorite sci-fi shows from the '60s? Which ones do you want to see on the big screen?
