The Reykjavík International Film Festival
Still a fairly new film festival, the ninth annual Reykjavík International Film Festival began on September 27 and ran for 11 days. The event features the work of filmmakers from over 40 countries and celebrates independent filmmaking with an emphasis on emerging artists. While the goal is to turn RIFF into a major European festival, part of the appeal of the experience is the intimate nature of the festival. Tickets are readily available, there are few lines and little to no red tape, yet RIFF is still prominent and held in high regard amongst the community.
