No Thanks…
Tom Hanks won an Oscar for his portrayal of hyper-successful corporate lawyer Andrew Beckett, a gay man who lost his job, health insurance, and his dignity at hands of a bigoted law firm upon their learning of his battle with AIDS. It’s a powerful film replete with standout performances from Denzel Washington (wearing a terrifying mustache) and Antonio Banderas (as Beckett’s partner) but I learn on good authority that discrimination and the pantomiming of opera tracks do not make for good 3-D translations. (Note of Exception: The scene where old man Wheeler yells, “Andy brought AIDS into this office!” might actually be pretty amazing in 3-D.)
