Stories We Tell
Directed by: Sarah Polley

When Sarah Polley's documentary hit Venice, an anvil was dropped into the film's heavily guarded secrecy. A film about "a" family, memory, storytelling and truth wasn't some abstract think piece – it was a very personal story about her family. Polley sat all of her family members before the camera to ask questions and get to the bottom of a long-brewing joke and familial drama. The result: a compelling story that grows well beyond the walls of intent, much like the recent tight-lipped documentary Dear Zachary. Where her last film Take This Waltz split audiences, Stories We Tell has been invoking praise far and wide. Thankfully, Roadside Attractions picked up the feature and plans to release it early next year.
