The comic version of From Hell is so graphic and depressing that it's almost understandable how much of it the Hughes brothers ignored in their adaptation. But then, why adapt the comic if you're not actually going to adapt the comic? Despite an R rating and moments of actual gore, From Hell shies away from the hellish extremes of its source material.
