The least “ha-ha” funny of our entries, Wes Anderson’s weirdly, wonderful portrayal of one of the most dysfunctional families on film is absolutely one of the best examples of comedic alchemy in all its glory. Featuring Gene Hackman as the patriarch of a family terribly wounded by his self-absorbed life, his family is played perfectly by Ben Stiller, Anjelica Huston, Danny Glover, Bill Murray, Gwyneth Paltrow and Luke and Owen Wilson. Equal parts absurd, bizarre and surreal, The Royal Tenenbaums makes human frailty painfully hilarious.
