The movie that some critics blame for starting the summer blockbuster mentality in Hollywood (and they're probably right) is still one of the finest horror movies of '70s not to mention a gripping suspense thriller. This is the work of a young, hard-edged Spielberg, who doesn't flinch from showing us the death of a child (!) or the gory remains of the great white shark's attacks, all while keeping the tension and scares high. The script is tight, the characters iconic and the casting perfect. Only his second feature and the man was on top of his game.
