The Good, The Bad, The Bogus: Movies with All-Star Casts

Good: Hairspray

John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, James Marsden, Queen Latifah, Brittany Snow, Zac Efron and Allison Janney -- how could the big-screen version of the Broadway musical Hairspray not rock? Even as someone who tends to take a pass on movie musicals and all the awkward impromptu singing and dancing, no matter how silly it feels, sometimes it’s impossible not to get caught up in the beat. Sure, watching Travolta trounce around as a 300-pound woman and share an on-screen romance with Walken is the slightest bit uncomfortable, but regardless every single cast member pulls out all the stops, embraces the heartwarming and rather goofy material and makes the movie a wildly enjoyable experience.
