8 Great...Mortality Comedies

This final film featuring the legendary British comedy troupe lives up to its title, beginning with hilarious sketches about birth (in an ultra-modern hospital, and in an already-overcrowded Catholic family) and wrapping things up with a look at death. The sketch in which a hooded, scythe-bearing figure out of The Seventh Seal comes to take away three couples from a dinner party — salmon mousse forever gets a bad rap from this scene — is followed by “Christmas in Heaven,” a musical number set in a gloriously tacky afterlife.
