Bill Murray played an American actor on a downward slide who doesn't even try to make sense of Japanese culture in Sophia Coppola's Lost in Translation, a film in which the actor runs rampant with Scarlett Johansson and lightly ridicules Tokyo. But that's a minor offense compared to Gojira (the original Japanese version, not the sanitized-for-America Godzilla), which posits that American hydrogen bomb testing has awakened a monster that proceeds to sink a multitude of ships and torch Tokyo. Americans can wreak havoc in foreign cities even when they're not present.
