What It's About: Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as a free black man in pre-Civil War America who is kidnapped and sold into slavery, and then must struggle to regain his freedom. Already highly praised from a preview screening at Telluride, the new drama from Steve McQueen (Shame) features an all-star supporting cast, including Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch and Paul Giamatti, with a luminous turn by newcomer Lupita Nyong'o.
