Trolls are cool; Trollhunter proved it. Plus, André Øvredal proved you can make totally believable trolls on a budget, too! The found-footage mockumentary only cost about $3.5 million, yet Øvredal managed to create and sell not one, but various different breeds of Norwegian trolls, something that helped make the film particularly engaging. It’s a blast to sort the creatures into the woodland and mountain categories and then further break them down based on their body types, food preferences and, of course, volatility. Hopefully we’ll hear of some movement on the Chris Columbus remake of Trollhunter and get the chance to explore the creatures’ rich history soon.
