Synopsis

Both a tongue-in-cheek tribute and a loving portrait, this video is a celebration of an American tradition. The drive-in movie was invented in 1933 by Richard Hollingshead, and for 50 years it was an important and popular social and entertainment venue. In 1957, there were close to 5,000 drive-ins in the U.S., but the introduction of the multiplex and home entertainment centers led to their rapid decline.
