Dance Fools Dance Details

FULL SYNOPSIS

[[Performer~P15681~Joan Crawford~joancrawford]] and [[Performer~P3468~William Bakewell~williambakewell]] play the spoiled-rotten grown children of stockbroker [[Performer~P32805~William Holden~williamholden]]. When Wall Street lays its famous egg in 1929, [[Performer~P15681~Crawford~joancrawford]] and [[Performer~P3468~Bakewell~williambakewell]] find that they can no longer pursue their flamboyant lifestyle (for example, they'll have to put a moratorium on the sort of "lingerie parties" with which this film opens). [[Performer~P15681~Crawford~joancrawford]] gets a newspaper job, while [[Performer~P3468~Bakewell~williambakewell]] ties up with vicious bootlegger [[Performer~P10097~Clark Gable~clarkgable]]. When [[Performer~P10097~Gable~clarkgable]] is implicated in the murder of seven gangsters (a transparent reenactment of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre), [[Performer~P15681~Crawford~joancrawford]]'s fellow reporter [[Performer~P21226~Cliff Edwards~cliffedwards]] gets proof of [[Performer~P10097~Gable~clarkgable]]'s complicity. [[Performer~P3468~Bakewell~williambakewell]] is ordered to kill [[Performer~P21226~Edwards~cliffedwards]]; [[Performer~P15681~Crawford~joancrawford]], not knowing of her brother's actions, takes [[Performer~P21226~Edwards~cliffedwards]]' place, wooing [[Performer~P10097~Gable~clarkgable]] in hopes of getting a scoop. When [[Performer~P10097~Gable~clarkgable]] finds out that [[Performer~P15681~Crawford~joancrawford]]'s working undercover (so to speak), he prepares to rub her out, but her life is saved by [[Performer~P3468~Bakewell~williambakewell]] at the cost of his own. Compared to the rest of the stick-figure leading men in Dance Fools Dance, [[Performer~P10097~Clark Gable~clarkgable]] stood out like a testosterone-soaked thumb, and it wouldn't be long before he'd be promoted from villains to heroes. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
