FULL SYNOPSIS

Sonia is 12 years old, and has very powerful nightmares. One of the ways she copes with them is to put rocks on the outside of her bedroom door. In fact, her father has been sexually abusing her while her mother has been rendered oblivious by migraine headaches. She makes friends with Melanie, the 16-year-old girl who is in foster care next door, and relieves some of her stress by very minor acts of rebellion. However, when the neighbor girl begins to figure out what's bothering Sonia, she is not clever enough to disguise her realization, and Sonia's cunning father gets her sent back to juvenile detention. When Sonia's mother shows signs of catching on, Sonia's father gets her to go away for a rest cure, and takes the poor girl off to a country getaway as his plaything. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
