Chicago-born character actress Rose Gregorio was acting on the New York stage when she answered her first movie-casting call. The film was The Swimmer (1968), a picaresque John Cheever adaptation, in which Gregorio appeared in the fleeting role of Connecticut suburbanite Sylvia Feeney.
