During the mid-'30s, Eugène Lourié was among the best art directors in French cinema and is best known for his collaborations with [[Performer~P107981~Jean Renoir~jeanrenoir]]. Later when Renoir moved to Hollywood in 1941, Lourié followed and subsequently worked with such directors as Ophuls, Siodmak, Sam Fuller, and even Chaplin. During the 1950s, Lourié directed a few sci-fi films that were noted for their many special effects.
