Denise Darcel Biography

  • Profession: Actor
  • Born: Jul 8, 1925
  • Died: Dec 23, 2011

Upon completion of her college education, Parisian Denise Darcel flourished as a cabaret singer before being tapped by Hollywood in 1947. She proved herself more than a beautiful face and a Gallic accent with her dramatic performance in the otherwise all-male [[Feature~V4354~Battleground~battleground]] (1949). She was then promoted as a "discovery" when she co-starred with Olsen and Johnson in the 1950 Broadway revue [[Feature~V105518~Pardon My French~pardonmyfrench]]. Nothing, however, brought Denise more attention than her "leg art" pose with Lex Barker from her 1950 film [[Feature~V112729~Tarzan and the Slave Girl~tarzanandtheslavegirl]]. Dropping out of films after 1954's [[Feature~V52304~Vera Cruz~veracruz]], Denise Darcel went back to the nightclub circuit, returning before the cameras only for an occasional television commercial, her hosting chores including the live TV quiz show [[Feature~V19146~Gamble on Love~gambleonlove]] (1954). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
